NFSU Journal of Forensic Science

Review Policy

NFSU Journal of Forensic Science

The NFSU Journal of Forensic Science adheres to a rigorous single-blind peer review process to ensure the quality and integrity of the research we publish. In a single-blind review, the identities of the reviewers are kept anonymous from the authors, while the reviewers are aware of the authors' identities. This process helps maintain objectivity and fairness throughout the review.

Submission and Initial Screening

Upon submission, each manuscript undergoes an initial screening to verify its compliance with the journal's formatting guidelines and to ensure it falls within the scope of the journal. Manuscripts that do not meet these criteria may be returned to the authors for revision before proceeding to the review stage.

Peer Review Process

1 Assignment to Reviewers

Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are assigned to expert reviewers based on their subject matter. Reviewers are selected for their expertise and experience in the relevant field of forensic science.

2 Evaluation Criteria

Reviewers evaluate the manuscript based on several criteria, including:

  • Originality and significance of the research
  • Methodological rigor and accuracy
  • Clarity and coherence of the presentation
  • Relevance to the field of forensic science
  • Contribution to existing knowledge and practice

3 Reviewer Reports

Reviewers provide detailed reports with their evaluations, comments, and recommendations. They may suggest acceptance, minor revisions, major revisions, or rejection. Authors receive constructive feedback to help improve their manuscript, regardless of the outcome.

4 Decision Making

Based on the reviewers' reports, the editorial team makes a decision on the manuscript. Possible outcomes include:

Acceptance

The manuscript is accepted for publication as is.

Minor Revisions

The manuscript requires minor changes before final acceptance.

Major Revisions

The manuscript requires significant changes and will undergo another round of review.

Rejection

The manuscript is not suitable for publication in the journal.

Revisions and Resubmissions

Authors required to make revisions must address the reviewers' comments and submit a revised manuscript. The revised manuscript may be sent back to the original reviewers for further evaluation. The editorial team makes the final decision on the manuscript after considering the reviewers' feedback on the revised version.
